About

I love history and after teaching for many years, I’m enjoying exploring the areas that interest me most. This began with a study of women in math and science and expanded into women’s history in other areas, but I have increasingly found myself interested in the late 19th to early 20th century. Mainly the period from the end of the Civil War to around 1920.

I have loved writing for my blog Saints, Sisters, and Sluts, and will continue to do so, but not everything that interests me fits in there. I wanted a place to write about things other than women’s history, so this is it. I won’t promise that I’ll stay strictly within the boundaries, but it seems that the Gilded Age was in many ways about testing and moving beyond boundaries, so I’ll be flexible.

I also wanted a place where I could be a little more casual about posting. There will be some major posts, but also some that are short and sweet, just to share something new that I find. I hope you’ll find it interesting and will share your thoughts and ideas with me.

A little more about why I chose this era. Why the Gilded Age?

Thanks for joining me for the adventure.
